Tuesday Night at Pasa Tiempo

Enjoying a night out

This past week, Erin and I were lucky enough to get to enjoy a little break from the kids. It’s been 8 weeks without a single break, day or night (unless you can count spanish school I guess..) Needless to say, it was much needed.

Our local friends helped us find a great babysitter and the kids loved her. YAY.

Our evening started off with dinner with our friends Brian and Carrie at Dragonfly. If you are ever in Tamarindo and want the absolute best restaurant in town, be sure to try Dragonfly. It was our second time there and once again it did not disappoint.  Absolutely delicious.

Ceiling at Pasa Tiempo's Bar. Too Cool.

Post dinner and drinks, we headed down the street to the newly re-opened Pasa Tiempo Hotel. From what we heard, the Pasa Tiempo was “the” place to be on tuesday nights for years until the hotel was shut down due to money issues. Recently, the hotel was purchased by a new group of people and Tuesday night was their grand re-opening. I think that just about every local in town was there! It was fun to recognize so many faces and know a surprising number of people there. We felt like we belonged, and while we are not true locals, it was our crowd. Tons of people were packed into this really cool open air bar and the house band, The Leatherbacks, played all night long. They were a shockingly fantastic band. Drinks were cheap and the liquor was flowing.

Erin and I had such a nice time getting away for the evening. We needed it. Around 11:45 we headed back to the house and relieved our sitter. We’ve been going to bed between 8 and 9 every night, so it was a “late” night for us. Funny to think that just 4 months ago, I was up consistently until at least midnight every night and these days I can’t keep my eyes open long enough to watch a full 30 minute show when we lay down at 8:30..

Spanish classes were a little rough at 8 the next morning, but it was worth every second. We’re hoping to make tuesday nights a part of our routine in the coming weeks and months. This week, we’ll be in Arenol and Monte Verde, but when we get back, we’ll be headed to the Pasa Tiempo again for a tuesday night fiesta.
