The kids went to an amazing school while living in Costa Rica for the Spring Semester of 2013 called the TIDE Academy (website | facebook). As a part of their community outreach program, the school teamed up with another local school to create a beautiful mural on an old concrete wall in the center of the town called Villa Real. This field serves as a soccer field, rodeo grounds, event field and more, so it’s visited frequently by locals and visitors alike. The TIDE Mural took about 3 months to complete. It started with drawings at school with ideas and inspiration and then was transformed into a beautiful mural concept by Carrie O’Malley. The kids proceeded to clean the wall, whitewash the wall, and then finally paint the wall. The end result is a beautiful mural in the middle of a well-loved (and a little run down) center of town. Great work TIDE!
